How to connect to the Day of Defeat: Source KUNI event server with 254 slots

Because the game does not officially support 254 slots (it only supports 33 slots by default), we created a separate build that adds 254-slot support. To play on the KUNI event server you must install this build temporarily. It’s safe, just make sure to restore the original files after the event so you can play on other servers later. Guide: 1. Go to https://dods.ku.ni 2. If you have a licensed copy, first back up the original files in the folder or rename them by adding the .bak extension. Example: Day Of Defeat Source/dod/bin/x64/server.dll rename to server.dll.bak then copy the server.dll you downloaded from the site into that folder. Day Of Defeat Source/dod/bin/x64/client.dll rename to client.dll.bak then copy the client.dll you downloaded from the site into that folder. Common mistake: players often confuse folders because there is another bin folder in the game root and place files in the wrong location. You must put the files in "GameFolder/dod/bin/x64", not "Day Of Defeat Source/bin". Check the path carefully: server.dll → Day Of Defeat Source/dod/bin/x64/server.dll client.dll → Day Of Defeat Source/dod/bin/x64/client.dll Note that you open the game folder and then the extra dod folder, do not confuse this with the bin folder at the game root. Wait for the event server to appear; the IP will be posted on GameDate or on the site. Most often it’s taz29.ku.ni Connect via the console: connect taz29.ku.ni or find the single server listed with 254 slots in the server browser. Notes We didn’t want to force this workaround, but Valve updated the game engine and didn’t expose support for more slots (e.g., 101), which is already available in Half-Life 2: Deathmatch and Team Fortress 2. The DODS runs stably at 101 slots.
