# **1. 🛠️ RPCS3 Setup Guide**
This project is a free and open-source **PlayStation 3 emulator** in constant development and expanding game compatibility. To get it up and running, you'll need to do the following initial setup:
**1.** Download and extract **RPCS3** (https://rpcs3.net/download);
**2.** Download the **Official PlayStation 3 Firmware** (http://dus01.ps3.update.playstation.net/update/ps3/image/us/2023_0228_05fe32f5dc8c78acbcd84d36ee7fdc5b/PS3UPDAT.PUP) from Sony website;
**3.** Open RPCS3, if it prompts you to update, press **"Yes"**;
**4.** Drag the `PS3UPDAT.PUP` firmware file onto the open RPCS3 window and press **"Yes"** to install **or** open `File` menu, then `Install Firmware`, select the `PS3UPDAT.PUP` file and press **"Yes"** to install;
**5.** To show games, you need to open the `File` menu, then `Add Games` and select your game in the **folder format**;
**6.** Go to the `Online Menu`, once you are there, click on `Edit Network Configurations`;
---
# **2. 🆔 RPCN Account Guide**
To play online in this project you gonna need an **RPCN account**, which is a netplay service inside the emulator that allows you to play revived PlayStation 3 games. To get it properly registered, you'll need to do the following setup:
**1.** Open the **RPCS3** *(with the initial configuration already done)*;
**2.** At the top of the screen, click on `Configuration` menu;
**3.** In the drop-down, click on `RPCN`;
**4.** In the new window, press `Account`;
**5.** Check if the **'Server'** is set to `Official RPCN Server`;
**6.** Enter the `Create Account` and follow the instructions: choose a **username**, enter a **password** and enter your **email address**;
**7.** Check your email for a message from **np@rpcs3.net**: this should contain your `token` *(if you cannot find it, check your spam folder)*;
**8.** In the same window as `Create Account`, now choose `Edit Account`;
**9.** Enter the **token** from your email into the `Token` box;
**10.** Press `Save` and then `Test Account`;

# **3. 🔄 Game Update Guide**
Once you have added your games, you still need to make sure they are **updated** to their latest version, as being up-to-date is mandatory to play online. For that, we have a tool that grabs updates for games directly from **Sony's servers** using their updates API **(there is no game/dlc at all in this!)**, so here's what you need to do:
**1.** Download and extract the latest version of **Rusty PSN** (https://github.com/RainbowCookie32/rusty-psn/releases), choose the `rusty-psn-egui` build;
**2.** Open it, then go to the `Settings` menu *(it's the gear button in the top right corner)*;
**3.** Now click on `Pick folder` to set the **Download Path** for your pkgs **or** you can leave it as is and it will download into the program folder you extracted;
**4.** On the program's main screen, simply enter the game's serial number in the `Title Serial` field and press `Search for updates`;
**5.** Now you will see all the updates available for it, you can choose to download just one by clicking `Download file` **or** you can download all of them at once by pressing `Download all`;
**6.** Open the **RPCS3** *(with the game already added)*;
**7.** Drag the `.pkg` file onto the open RPCS3 window and press **"Yes"** to install **or** open `File` menu, then `Install Packages/Raps/Edats`, select the file(s) and press **"Yes"** to install;

# **4. 🌐 DNS Config Guide**
To be able to play online certain games that have been revived by the community, you will need to use a **DNS** to make it connect to the servers. It's not complicated and allows **Cross-Play** with those on the original hardware *(not with all games atm)*, so to get it up and running online with others, you'll need to do the following setup:
**1.** Open the **RPCS3** *(with the initial configuration already done)*;
**2.** Go to your game of choice and right-click on it, then choose `Create Custom Configuration From Global Settings` option;
**3.** Go to the `Network` tab and set these settings to:
- Network Status = `Connected`
- DNS = `X.X.X.X` *(enter the address of the specific game here)*
- Bind address = `0.0.0.0`
- Enable UPNP = `☑️`
- PSN Status = `RPCN`
**4.** Press `Apply` and `Save custom configuration`, then close this window;
**5.** Now, you just need to right-click your game and select `Boot with custom configuration`;

# **5. 🛰️ XLink Kai Setup Guide**
XLink Kai is a **multi-platform** and **peer-to-peer LAN** tunneling service which enables users to play local area network and ad-hoc multiplayer games on their consoles online with people all over the world. RPCS3 support in XLink Kai is **still experimental** and as such the setup process is a bit... bespoke:
**1.** Download and install **XLink Kai** (https://www.teamxlink.co.uk/go?c=download) and **NPCAP** (https://npcap.com/#download);
**2.** Then, **Run as Administrator** `kaiLoopbackBridge64.exe` inside `C:\\Program Files (x86)\\XLink Kai\\`, press any key to continue and the loopback adapter will now be configured automatically;
**3.** Open the **RPCS3** *(with the initial configuration already done)* and go to your game of choice and right-click on it, then choose `Create Custom Configuration From Global Settings` option;
**4.** Go to the `Network` tab and set these settings to:
- Network Status = `Connected`
- PSN Status = `Disconnected`
**5.** Press `Apply` and `Save custom configuration`, then **close** this window and the emulator;
**6.** Start **XLink Kai** and log in;
**7.** Start **kaiLoopbackBridge**, navigate through the prompts and **keep it open the entire time you are playing**;
**8.** Open **RPCS3 again** and start your game: right-click and select `Boot with custom configuration`;
**9.** XLink Kai will now see RPCS3 as a Playstation 3 console under the **Metrics** tab, navigate to a game arena and play!
