Better Than Adventure: What it's and how to install

**Better Than Adventure** (henceforth "**BTA**") is a mod for Minecraft Java version Beta 1.7.3. It tries to imagine a world where the Adventure Update for Beta 1.8 didn't happen, so the pivot from "*Sandbox Game with aspects of survival*" shifted to a "*little bit of everything*"; it does that while rescuing some ideas that were presented or suggested by the devs. (Notch, Jeb, &c) in alpha or beta phases of Minecraft. **Main differences from beta 1.7.3** BTA has a **seasons** and a serie of new biomes, like seasonal forests which have cherry blossoms; caatinga and more! It also has **new ores**: Nethercoal and Steel, both are linked to the Nether and the new blast furnace -- steel is not a upgrade from diamonds but more like a sidegrade, it has much more durability while losing some efficiency when compared to diamonds. The **armour system** was overhauled to make every type of armour useful, leather armour protects against fall damage, chainmail protects against mob damage, diamonds protect more against fire, etc. You can also match armour sets to get the best of many words! Wood can now be **dyed** to get the exact colour you want, very useful. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗕𝗧𝗔 It's a *different* experience from modern Minecraft, it actually feels like an Indie game with a focus, which is something Minecraft nowadays lacks. Besides the QoL (Quality of Life) improvements made to beta, it rescues a feeling of emptiness that old Minecraft had perfectly, while adding new little things that fit the game in a really fun way. Personally, it's my preferred way to play Minecraft nowadays, because it's the only one I actually have fun playing. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹 **→ Pre-Install:** While those are **not needed**, having both will make your experience while installing significantly easier; You will need a Minecraft account, and to install Prism Launcher (distributed at https://prismlauncher.org/ or in community repositories, such as the AUR), which is an Free and Open Source launcher for Minecraft. **Step-1:** Download the BTA's Prism/MultiMC update utility or the Manual Install for Prism/MultiMC (https://www.betterthanadventure.net/downloads/), I do not recomend using the "client jar", since you need some libraries to run BTA. **Step-2:** Open Prism, click on "add instance", select "import" and go to the directory where you downloaded the BTA file, select it and Prism will do all the work for you. **Step-3** If you installed the "Update Utility", run it and click on the install button, you can use it to update the game whenever a new update comes out -- if you installed the "Manual Install", the game instance is already installed and you can just run it! 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 *"Prism doesn't run for some reason/I don't like it"*: MultiMC doesn´t support distribution on Community Repositories for Linux distros and PolyMC was hijacked and doesn't get updates anymore, you may still be able to download the Jar client file and install the mod, but I do not recommend if you aren't familiar with computers. *"BTA/Update utility doesn't doesn't run"*: it's probably because you don't actually have Java installed or you borked the game's files in some way, the solution for the former is to (on Prism): 1. go to settings, click on "Java", press the "detect" button and select the Java installation you want. **If you don't have a Java installation**; 2. Navigate to "Installations" (in the "Java" tab), click on "Download", click in "Adoptium" and select the latest version of Java 17. 3. Now go to the instance, "edit" and go to settings click on "Java" and detect and select the Java version you want. Hope you have a great time playing BTA!
