Miscelaneous tools!

Lots of old games are easy to find copies of but the servers are taken down or it's otherwise difficult to get multiplayer running so here's a few tools to help with that. If you know any more that I don't make sure to list em in the comments! (also i tried to post links to these but they aren't allowed sorryyyy) Fightcade Fightcade is a matchmaking application bundled with a bunch of different emulators primarily designed to let people play arcade fighting games online, but its got lots of other stuff on there too! It works out of the box and has tons and tons of different games available. Gameranger Gameranger is one of the oldest services in this genre and is essentially a big multi game server browser that connects people through LAN emulation (for most games, I don't remember what it does for others lol), it's really useful for finding matches in games with otherwise defunct servers. You'll have to get copies of the games you want to play on your own but beyond that again everything works super easily. Parsec Parsec is a remote desktop app (you can also lock it down to specific windows and specific control types if you don't feel comfortable letting people access your whole computer) that lets you play any game with local multiplayer online just by streaming video and inputs back and forth, surprisingly it's got almost no latency in my experience! It handles controller input very well but if you want to play something with keyboard and mouse you might have to do some finagling with keybinds since it'll recognize them as coming from the same place. Also as a footnote unrelated to video games Foundry is an Excellent virtual tabletop for any TTRPGs you wanna play and Tabletop Simulator is great for any other type of board game you can think of.
